Planning

This project is currently in the planning stage. We lodged the scoping report submitted in March 2025 and are in the process of prepating the environmental impact statement.

Construction

We expect construction for the project to begin in late 2026.

Operation

The project will be operational from 2027.

About the project

We're creating the Newcastle Logistics Precinct to coordinate the transportation of renewable energy equipment as part of the once-in-a-generation upgrade of NSW’s electricity system.

The Newcastle Logistics Precinct is ideal for storing energy components at the Port of Newcastle. It connects easily to the state road network and the Port to REZ route.

It will be on the government-owned Intertrade site next to the Port of Newcastle lease area. This is an opportunity to expand the capacity to accommodate the large number of renewable energy components arriving at the Port of Newcastle.
